Verdun, Montréal
Verdun opened its public library in 1944, and close to four thousand people signed up in the first year alone. It moved in 1967 into the cultural centre on avenue Bannantyne, built for Canada's centennial to plans by Armand Dutrisac, an architect known mostly for churches.
Its current name dates from 2017.
