UGO is the smart companion for exploring Montreal and its surroundings — finding the right spot, at the right moment, without spending hours on it.
We believe discovering a city should feel as easy as asking a friend who knows it inside out.
UGO combines a carefully curated selection of places, events, and neighbourhoods with AI that understands what you’re actually looking for.
You don’t need to know exactly where to go. Just tell us what you feel like doing.
Tell UGO what you’re in the mood for, in your own words, and it builds an itinerary that actually makes sense: places that are open, realistic distances, a comfortable pace, and an atmosphere that fits the moment.
Neighbourhood guides, upcoming events, things to do, and getaways around Montréal — everything is designed to help you go from “what should we do?” to actually going out.
In 2025, somewhere between two cities in Vietnam, after several months travelling across Asia, I came to a simple realization: figuring out where to go was taking almost as long as actually going there.
One tab for a travel blog that hadn’t been updated in four years. Another for a guide focused entirely on restaurants. An app that was too generic, recommending the same ten places to everyone.
Meanwhile, the places that actually made a city special were often the hardest to find: the little café run by the same family for thirty years, the unmarked jazz bar, the independent bookstore that never appears on the usual rankings.
The problem wasn’t a lack of information. It was scattered, inconsistent, and often outdated.
That’s where the idea for UGO came from: bringing together a carefully curated, constantly evolving knowledge of a city in one place.
Great restaurants and cafés, of course. But also bookstores, independent shops, DJ nights, jazz clubs, exhibitions, neighbourhoods worth wandering through, and all those places people usually discover through recommendations from friends.
I started with Montréal, the city I know best. And every week, we keep exploring it, learning from it, and making UGO better at understanding what makes it special.
Places are selected for their character and what they bring to the city — not because they paid to be featured.
Time, season, weather, distance, and the rhythm of the day all matter. Our recommendations are designed to work in the real world.
No unnecessary tracking. Your plans, favourites, and habits remain under your control.
