A few minutes from Central Station, Surry Hills is Sydney’s foodie district: specialty coffee, restaurants, wine bars and shops in streets of Victorian terraces with wrought-iron balconies.
A working-class area in the 19th and early 20th centuries, Surry Hills was also the centre of the rag trade. Novelist Ruth Park set “The Harp in the South” here. Since the 1990s its restored terraces have drawn creatives and restaurants.
