Just west of Central, Sheung Wan keeps its dried-seafood shops, herbalists and incense-filled temples, among cafés and art galleries set in old buildings.
The colony’s first Chinese district, Sheung Wan was the hub of East–West trade in the 19th century. Man Mo Temple, dedicated to the gods of literature and war, dates from the 1840s.
