Around Calle Ocho, Little Havana keeps Miami’s Cuban culture alive: cafecito at the ventanita, hand-rolled cigars, live music and games of dominoes in Máximo Gómez Park. Restaurants serve Cuban sandwiches and pastelitos.
After the 1959 revolution, hundreds of thousands of Cubans went into exile in Miami and settled in this area. Little Havana became the centre of the Cuban community, with its memorials, its Walk of Fame for Latino artists and the 1926 Tower Theater.
