Corrugated-iron houses painted in bright colours, street artists and tango dancers: Caminito is La Boca’s showcase. The district also lives to the rhythm of the Boca Juniors club and its stadium, La Bombonera.
The arrival port for many Genoese immigrants in the 19th century, La Boca was built of wood and corrugated iron, painted, as tradition has it, with leftover paint from the shipyards. Painter Benito Quinquela Martín made these colours the symbol of the district.
