Downtown Dubai is built around the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Fountain lake and Dubai Mall. Come for the observation deck, the evening fountain show, the opera and Souk Al Bahar by the water.
The district was built from the early 2000s on almost empty land to create a new city centre. The Burj Khalifa, opened in 2010, became its symbol, and the area now draws most of Dubai’s visitors.
