Shady residential streets, cafés, bookshops and restaurants: Da’an is the pleasant place to live in Taipei. Yongkang Street is famous for its xiaolongbao dumplings, mango shaved ice and teahouses.
Once rice paddies, Da’an was urbanised in the 20th century around National Taiwan University. Da’an Forest Park, opened in 1994, has been nicknamed “the lungs of Taipei”.
