Australia’s most famous beach curves between two headlands. People surf, swim in the Bondi Icebergs ocean pool and set off on the coastal walk to Tamarama, Bronte and Coogee.
The name Bondi is thought to come from an Aboriginal word for water breaking over rocks. One of the world’s first volunteer surf lifesaving clubs was founded here in 1907, and the Icebergs club, formed in 1929, swims every winter Sunday in its chilly pool.
