Between the Mapocho River and Cerro San Cristóbal, Bellavista is Santiago’s bohemian district: colourful houses covered in murals, restaurants, bars and La Chascona, Pablo Neruda’s house.
The district has long drawn artists and writers. Neruda built La Chascona here in the 1950s; ransacked after the 1973 coup, the house is now a museum.
