Opened on 4 November 1929 at the corner of Bernard and Champagneur, the Théâtre Outremont was one of the country’s earliest Art Deco cinemas, designed by architect René Charbonneau and decorated by Emmanuel Briffa, the Maltese-born painter behind some sixty Canadian movie houses.
